I started sharing my healing and mental health journey with friends through social media in 2020.

(Pandemic vibes, amirite?)

Since then, I’ve had a handful of people reach out to me and chat about their mental health:

  • A family member (who is of the Boomer generation) called me to talk about their mental health and what their options were
  • An old friend reached out to get my opinion on how to find the right therapist
  • An acquaintance from school DM’d me to talk about their recent mental health struggles

Can you believe that? Someone saw something I posted and it prompted them to have a conversation about their mental health!!! Multiple someone’s!! Absolutely amazing!!

This topic is extremely important to me.. And it is a privilege to be able to connect with people in this way.

A big part of my healing journey has also been acknowledging my own generational trauma and life experience as someone who was born and raised in Philippines, but is now living in Canada. My generation is the first generation to have non-traditional families openly.

My generation isn’t going to pass down the many traumatic realities and expectations of our culture. It sounds super dramatic, but I feel deep in my soul that this is the right path. It won’t be easy, it’s never been done before. Sometimes everything feels like it’s working against us, but I was born for this.

Thanks for reading this…. (I feel super rusty writing on my own blog.)
