I went to the Lip Lab in Toronto, the Queen Street location with my mom and sisters for the Custom Lip Experience. It was such a unique way to spend time together and take home something customized for each of us.
OUR EXPERIENCE
Our colourist (not sure what to call them) was very friendly and explained the process to us. She made us feel very comfortable, although I did feel a bit rushed at times. There were 4 of us and we all wanted to try on different shades for each other and it took a bit of time, especially with the chitchat.
The location itself was very cute, although it was pretty small. I can imagine it getting pretty cramped in there if it was busy.
Overall, I really enjoyed customizing every part, including the packaging colour and engraving. My marketing brain really liked that!
CHOOSING THE SHADE/FLAVOUR
I was all about the natural, my-lips-but-better shades at this time, so that’s what I went with.
TRY-ON MY CUSTOM SHEER LIPSTICK FROM LIP LAB
I went with something “safe” as my first custom lipstick. But now having used it for awhile, I do wish I went with a satin or matte shade. Or something a bit more bold.
Is it worth it?
Each custom lipstick is about $75 CAD each. It would be worth it depending on who you are with – first and foremost, this is an experience and not just about the end product. That’s really what you are paying for.
One thing- if you have a discontinued shade that you are desperate for, it could be interesting to bring it to them and see if they can replicate it! I will probably go that route if I do this again. Thanks for reading!
